Menschen für Menschen ran a campaign with a mechanic simple enough to fit in a sentence: like a post tagged #1Like1Baum and the NGO plants a tree in Ethiopia, with the sponsor putting up a euro alongside it.

The site was where that promise became visible. A slideshow of the campaign material, an FAQ for the questions the mechanic raises, a newsletter sign-up — and a live counter of the likes collected so far. The counter is the campaign’s whole argument in one number, which makes it the one element on the page that has to be both correct and current.

It ran on a server I set up and maintained.
