Kapsch AG’s corporate blog ran on TYPO3 and moved to WordPress, so that the people actually writing for it could publish without a manual. From the outside nothing was supposed to change: same design, same archive, different engine underneath.
The template. A full rebuild of the TYPO3 design as a WordPress theme, in both languages, with image and video embedding editors could use without going near the markup.
The archive. The existing articles imported out of TYPO3 — posts, authors, image galleries and the links between them. The interesting part of a migration like that is never the happy path; it’s whatever was assembled by hand over the years and doesn’t map cleanly onto the new structure.
Around it: SSL, hosting on a server I set up and maintained, and the round of SEO, performance and security work that a relaunch is the right moment for.
