Schrödingers Katze is the science blog UNIKO — the Austrian universities’ conference — publishes for readers outside the scientific community: background stories, profiles and interviews about research coming out of Austria. Monopol ran it end to end, from editorial and social media to design and everything technical.
I did the technical side of the relaunch. The design arrived as a layout and I built it out as a WordPress theme, mobile-first rather than mobile-adapted — a blog like this is mostly read on a phone, arrived at from a link someone shared.
The site also runs on infrastructure I set up and looked after: a Plesk-managed server, with deployments and updates handled from there. Being responsible for both halves is useful on a project this size — when something is slow, there’s no handover between the person who wrote the template and the person who can see the logs.
